Last week definitely was a good one! It started with the best thing imaginable – a U2 concert! We got the tickets last October, so the wait was way too long. But finally the day arrived and we enjoyed it a lot. We were joined by the winner of our U2-ticket-competition… but wait, hm, didn’t a guy win the ticket? Find the mystery unveiled in a short video we made of this wondrous event:

The week still had some good stuff in stores for us. On Saturday we drove to Marchegg to play a show at the Key2Life Festival together with Jars of Clay, Freequency, Fii and d:projekt. The festival was well attended, the crowd very energetic, the stage huge & the lightning nice. Despite a few technical problems we had a nice evening. Here are some great photos:

This Blog is being written in a very sleepy and jet-lagged condition. Monday morning last week Nashville waved goodbye with a tear in her eye, tuesday Vienna greeted us with a sunny smile. Vienna is a nice place, eventhough other places are becoming more attractive too. Regensburg being one of them, hosted our concert on Saturday together with Pussies of Death, General Sherman and Colt. The occasion was the CD release of the Pussies, who didn’t so much release it, but shoot it into space with an imperial overdrive.

Well done! We will be back in Bavaria soon I guess, maybe on Oct. 8th for General Sherman’s CD Releaseparty – we’ll see.

Roadtrip to Pittsburgh, PA

On saturday afternoon we rented a very old, very crappy bus from a guy who we only know by the name of Brandon Jazz. Actually we don’t even know him, we just have his van. It’s a huge thing and i think it definitely wants to kill us. But it is cheaper than a rental car and we were in need of wheels, so it’s really quite alright.

It took us on a very bumpy journey to Louisville, Kentucky in the evening, where we played a great show at a funky place called the Derby City Espresso. It’s a tiny place, but if you’re ever in Louisville, you have got to go there. You can hear some very good music there and it has parrots and goldfish. Who could resist that? We played there with a great group called The Foxery – we were actually quite impressed by them, sadly we had to leave for Pittsburgh shortly after the show.

So we drove another six or seven hours through the night in the deathvan – we call it frappè D – and arrived in Pittsburgh in time for breakfast. During our time here we’ve done lots of cool stuff including Kennywood Park, the Zoo, a Baseballgame – all adding to the fact that Pittsburgh is the coolest place. And then of course we played a concert at the Rex Theater on wednesday together with Harrison and Caleb Lovely. That was a great night too.

After visiting the Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame yesterday, we’re just about getting ready to head back to Nashville from where we’ll be flying back home on monday. Our US stays are always too short!

French Quarter Cafe

What’s better? A festival-gig in front of 10000 people who don’t know our music at all, or a smaller show for fans that drove 3 hours just to see us play? Both is kinda cool, but the second happend to us yesterday. We were really surprised and we felt honored. What topped the whole thing off was to see how people who didn’t know our music yet enjoyed the evening alot too. What more could you want as a musician? Faithful fans and new enthusiastic ones? A beautiful evening.

Today we’re off to Pittsburgh with a stop at the Derby Espresso Cafe in Louisville where we’ll be playing a show tonight. Unfortunately two shows got cancelled for next week, but although some things are not working out as planned, we feel like we are progressing in our journey.

We played at the Exit/In in Nashville to find that the CCM star and double Grammy nominee Sarah Kelly was in the audience. She really enjoyed our music, so we videotaped her after the show. Here goes…

From Charlotte to the Exit/in

Last thursday we headed down to Charlotte to see some friends and to spend some time on the marketing issue of the band. We had the best time there. We stayed at the cross.tv mansion with a private pool, a tenniscourt, a lake and a beachvolleyball pitch. Needless to say that we played a lot of tennis, volleyball and went swimming alot. It almost felt like we are stars already.

Monday we drove back to Nashville and most part of Tuesday we prepared for the show at the Exit/In which was scheduled for Wednesday night. We took some pics for our merchtable with our models veronika and rachel wearing our new t-shirts, which by the way are awesome! Tuesday night we went to a venue called French Quarter Cafe, because they had asked us to play there on friday and we wanted to check it out. To our surprise we came in the door to find a jazz orchestra playing there, which was pretty cool. We stayed a bit and sucked up that swinging vibe. We’ll be playing there on Friday.

Tonight we played at the Exit/In, which is one of Nashvilles best venues. Everyone from Billy Joel to the Kings of Leon has played there and after tonight, we have too. We played there with Chelsea Lankes and Son of a Bad Man and apparently most people were at the venue during our set. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!
We tried some new stuff today which really worked out well. If the video is any good, maybe we’ll post something. We also had an artist/celebrity at the show, Sarah Kelly – who really loved what we were doing. She’ll tell you herself in a video which we’ll post soon. Now it’s time for bed.

First days in Nashville

When we arrived in Nashville last week, we only had 3 concerts fixed. I was very worried, because being here for 4 weeks, i’d love to drive from one good show to the next one.
Our expectations have changed though, they’re higher now than the first times we were here. Where are the venues that would fit our style of music? It’s better to play two shows to an audience that likes our style of music than 10 to longhaired metalfreakes (which by they way always turn out to be the nicest people) or a bunch of drunk people.

Bearing that in mind we really enjoyed our first show at one of Nashville’s top clubs 12th&Porter. We loved having a good stage to beat the drums and share our songs with everyone there. Also on the bill were Kink Ador, Mother/Father and the Ettes, all three of them very good bands. The audience had a great time and so did all of us.

Yesterday we got to take out Gregor’s new acoustic bass, a hundred dollar guitar and a cardboard box with a snaredrum to play Balcony TV Nashville – we rocked…well, we think we did. We’ll let you know when the video is online.

Since we came we’ve been talking more about our goals again, our values and our image. What makes us unique? Does it show at our concerts? How can we communicate what’s important to us? It’s exhausting and challenging.

It’s great to be back though. We enjoy the time with all our friends here so much and everytime we’re amazed anew that people still let us stay at their houses. A couple more gigs have materialized too, so I’m glad about that.

Today we’re off to Charlotte – to meet friends and rehearse.
