As I woke up today, I had to think of a song that our friends from the band Lokomotive Blokschoij always sing – my head turns like wheels. With a bad headache but very content I woke and in my first waking minutes I started to reflect on yesterday’s show.
It was an amazing evening, and not the fact that we organised it ourselves made it so great, but all the wonderful people who were there. Linda Harrison (www.lindaharrisonmusic.com), the singer from London who we flew in to perform before us was amazing. The crowd loved her to bits. I haven’t often seen a support act do an encore – but the way the crowd was chanting, she didn’t have a choice. She told me afterwards she had honestly not prepered one, because she never thought she’d be doing one.
After her we got on stage at the Badeschiff and soaked up the atmosphere. There were so many friends, work colleagues, school friends, fans who had come all the way from Germany, musician friends and family there, which made it so cool to look into the audience and see all the different faces. We did lots of new material – as you would expect from a CD release party, and that can make you feel uneasy at times, but we felt really content and enjoyed playing the new songs. We had some videos to a couple of the songs, where the process of the specific song was documented – just to have something different. Raffi, the guy who mixed the album, did the sound and everyone thought it was awesome. What a great night!
Now I need to go shower – i had a scar on my chest yesterday, made of wax to look like the one on the album cover. It’s the stuff they use in the movies and it sticks like superglu. I’m quite interested to see how I’m going to get it off…I’m so happy right now that I don’t have a hairy chest!
